Tax

Tax obligations are among the most significant factors affecting a company’s operational continuity, profitability and regulatory exposure. In Bolivia, the complexity of the tax system and the frequency of audit and enforcement proceedings require expert, forward-looking management focused on concrete results.

Our experience

PPO Indacochea has one of Bolivia’s most recognised tax practices, with direct experience in tax planning, regulatory compliance, defence in enforcement proceedings and litigation before the relevant administrative and judicial authorities. Our practice covers the full cycle of tax risk: from prevention to resolution.

Our experience includes tax planning and optimisation, preparation and filing of tax returns, responses to proceedings before the Tax Appeals Authority, first-instance appeals, hierarchical appeals and contentious-administrative claims. We also advise on international taxation, transfer pricing and the tax structuring of transactions.

Customs Law

Customs matters can have a direct impact on business continuity, costs and regulatory exposure for companies involved in imports, exports or international supply chains. We advise Bolivian and foreign companies on the preventive and corrective management of customs risks, with a focus on control, compliance and effective defence.

We assist clients in administrative proceedings before the Bolivian National Customs Authority, including deferred control proceedings, post-clearance customs audits and other review or assessment procedures. Our work includes defining legal strategies, preparing submissions and supporting documentation, reviewing evidence and monitoring proceedings through to resolution.

We also advise on challenges against customs decisions, both before the Tax Appeals Authority at the administrative level and before the competent courts. In addition, we support clients on a preventive basis by reviewing processes, documentation and regulatory compliance to reduce exposure and prepare the business for potential customs audits.

Accounting Law

The proper application of accounting standards is essential for decision-making, tax management and the consistency of a company’s financial information. We advise domestic companies and multinational groups on the interpretation and application of Bolivian and international accounting regulations, with a focus on technical accuracy, compliance and risk control.

Our work includes ongoing and specific advice on accounting matters that require coordinated legal, tax and financial analysis. The practice is supported by our tax law and tax audit teams, allowing each matter to be addressed from an integrated perspective tailored to the client’s operating context.

We assist clients with the review of accounting criteria, regulatory compliance, contingency analysis, preparation for reviews or audits and the definition of sustainable technical positions.

Tax Audit

Tax audit involves a technical and systematic analysis of a company’s tax position, aimed at identifying contingencies, verifying regulatory compliance and strengthening the company’s standing ahead of potential audits or reviews by the tax authorities.

PPO Indacochea conducts internal tax audits designed to detect fiscal exposures and optimise the company’s position before enforcement proceedings are initiated by the authorities. Our team combines legal judgment and accounting analysis to provide an integrated view of tax risk.

Our experience includes tax risk audits, review of tax returns, compliance verification across direct and indirect taxes, identification of accounting contingencies with tax implications, and the preparation of technical reports to support informed decision-making.
